Responding to an RFAI

August 13, 2018

At some point in your committee’s history, you may receive an RFAI, or Request for Additional Information.

An RFAI is sent if your committee’s FEC Campaign Finance Analyst needs additional clarification about an item in your report or identifies an error, omission or possible prohibited activity. An RFAI is your opportunity to correct or explain information in your report for the public record.

You have 35 days from the date of the RFAI letter to respond. Be sure to respond to the RFAI as soon as possible-- the FEC can’t issue an extension under any circumstances, and failure to respond may result in further Commission action.

Please visit our website for more information about RFAIs and what to include in your response.
