Court of Appeals issues judgment and opinion in Stein, et al. v. FEC

July 21, 2023

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit today issued a Per Curiam Judgment and Opinion in Stein, et al. v. FEC (Case No. 21-1213). The Court denied the Petition for Review of a repayment determination issued by the Commission to Jill Stein’s 2016 presidential campaign committee, which received partial public funding under the Presidential Primary Matching Payment Account Act.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is an independent regulatory agency that administers and enforces federal campaign finance laws. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency. Established in 1975, the FEC is composed of six Commissioners who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
