Court of Appeals issues order in CREW, et al. v. FEC

May 14, 2019

WASHINGTON – The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit today issued an Order in CREW, et al. v. FEC (Case No. 17-5049), denying a petition for rehearing en banc from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). In June 2018, a three-judge panel of the Court of Appeals found that the Commission’s dismissal of an administrative complaint brought by CREW against the Commission on Hope, Growth and Opportunity in Matter Under Review 6471 was not contrary to law.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is an independent regulatory agency that administers and enforces federal campaign finance laws. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency. Established in 1975, the FEC is composed of six Commissioners who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
