Court of Appeals issues opinion in CREW v. FEC

April 4, 2017

WASHINGTON – The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit today issued a Per Curiam Order in CREW, et al. v. FEC (Case Nos. 16-5300 and 16-5343), granting the FEC’s motion to dismiss the appeals.The Court of Appeals also denied as moot the other parties’ motion to hold their appeals in abeyance pending resolution of the pending proceedings in Case No. 14-1419 before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is an independent regulatory agency that administers and enforces federal campaign finance laws. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency. Established in 1975, the FEC is composed of six Commissioners who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
