Appeals Court issues opinion in End Citizens United PAC v. FEC
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit issued a Per Curiam Judgment and Opinion in End Citizens United PAC v. FEC (Case No. 22-5176) on Friday, reversing an earlier decision of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and instructing that Court to remand the case to the Commission for further action, consistent with its opinion.
The Plaintiff had challenged the Commission’s dismissal of an administrative complaint against Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. without finding reason to believe a violation occurred.
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is an independent regulatory agency that administers and enforces federal campaign finance laws. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency. Established in 1975, the FEC is composed of six Commissioners who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
