AOR 2019-07: Area 1 Security, Inc.

June 24, 2019

On June 6, 2019, the Commission discussed but did not vote on an advisory opinion request (AOR) from Area 1 Security, Inc., a technology corporation. The corporation’s AOR asked the Commission to review the application of the Federal Election Campaign Act to its proposed provision of low- or no-cost cybersecurity services to federal candidates and political committees. On June 7, 2019, the corporation withdrew its AOR, thereby concluding the Commission’s consideration of the request.

Subsequently, the corporation submitted a new version of the AOR, which was designated as AOR 2019-12 (Area 1 Security, Inc. II). This AOR is currently available for public comment through Monday, June 24, 2019.
