Contributions and transfers from federal candidate committees

When a party committee receives a contribution or a transfer from a federal candidate committee, the party committee will report the receipt.

Reporting on Form 3X

Contributions and transfers from federal candidate committees are disclosed on Line 11(c) of Schedule A regardless of the amount of the receipt. To itemize a receipt, the committee discloses:

• Name of the federal candidate committee
• Mailing address
• Date of receipt
• Amount of receipt
• Aggregate calendar-year-to-date total of all receipts from the source

The entry should specify the nature of the transaction such as “transfer,” “transfer of excess funds” or “contribution.”

Reporting with FECFile

To enter a receipt from a federal candidate committee, go to the Summary Page tab, right click on “Line 11(c) Contributions from Other Political Committees” and select “new.”
